Vegan detox

Vegan detox – fasting is almost no effort at all

As the end of the cold season approaches, our warm jackets are disappearing into the cupboards, and woolly pullovers are making way for light and airy t-shirts, but the spare tires our midriffs have collected during winter are still making their presence known.

Now, at the latest, is the time to turn good intentions into actions and start a spring clean – on the outside and the inside. To address the effect that a winter of fatty foods and chocolate has had on their expanding midriffs, most people consider it inevitable that they’ll have to put their bodies through a detox involving lots of fasting.

healing whole body tuning

For the omnivores among us, there’s no doubt that this healing whole-body-reset can be a huge challenge. After all, our lazy sides love to eat indulgent foods such as fatty meat, difficult-to-digest dairy products, or fish floundering in rich sauces.

As a vegan, however, all I have to do is reach for my usual food sources, which are already very healthy – such as healthy veg, fresh fruit and a wide range of cereals. This makes it much easier to do a moderate fast, because I hardly have to give up anything at all. Only the ever-expanding range of sweet vegan treats still makes me give in to the nagging temptation to indulge.

you are what you eat…

But I’m more than up to the challenge – every time I overdo it on the chocolate cookies or cake, I just go for a juice cleanse day, a week of slurping soup, or a round of intermittent fasting. This way, I’m able to get the better of my lazy side without having to subject my stomach to too much rumbling. After all, if you want to get fit for spring, you have to stretch yourself a little, because in the end, you are what you eat – at least that’s what wasps say, and their waistlines are famous the world over!
